Chinese Government Scholarship-Bilateral Program (Full or Partial Scholarship)

I. Eligibility

1. Applicants must be American citizens in good health.

2. Educational background and age limits (as of September 1):

(1) Bachelor's programs: hold a high school diploma or above and be under the age of 25;

(2) Master's programs: hold a bachelor's degree or above and be under the age of 35;

(3) Doctoral programs: hold a master's degree or above and be under the age of 40;

(4) General scholar programs: hold a high school diploma or above and be under the age of 45;

(5) Senior scholar programs: hold a master's degree or above and be under the age of 50.

3. For those who have not met the entry requirements of Chinese proficiency level and wish to take remedial Chinese courses before the major study in Chinese, they should also present the HSK certificate when applying. Applicants for programs in the humanities, economics, management, law, arts and traditional Chinese medicine need to have a Chinese proficiency certificate of HSK band 4 with a score of 180 or above; applicants for programs in sciences, engineering and medicine need to have a certificate of HSK band 3 with a score of 180 or above. Only by passing the required HSK test within the first year and meeting the entry requirements of the relevant degree programs could they then start the major study.

II. Application Procedures

1. Applicants should apply to Education Office of Chinese Embassy for scholarship opportunity.

2. Applicants shall complete online application at  studyinchina.csc.edu.cn and print out the Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarships. The Scholarships Application Form should be completed in Chinese or English and signed by the applicant.

3. Applicants should submit all of the application materials to the Education Office of Chinese Embassy before the deadline.

III. Application Period: January to April. Applicants may refer to Education Office of Chinese Embassy for specific deadline.

MOFCOM Scholarship (Full Scholarship)

I. Eligibility

1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens from a developing country and be in good health.

2. When applying for master's programs, applicants should hold a bachelor's degree or above and be under the age of 45 (as of September 1).

3. Incumbents with a relevant educational background or working experience to the applied program are preferred.

4. Applicants should be public officials of division level and above (or corresponding level) in government sectors, or senior management staff of organizations and enterprises, or academic backbones of universities and research institutions.

5. Applicants should be sufficient in English which meets the academic requirements of Xiamen University's English-medium programs, be equivalent to IELTS Academic 6.0 or TOEFL-iBT 80 and above level.

6. Applicants should be with the potential of professional development, and is committed to promoting the friendly exchanges and cooperation between the host country and China.

II. Application Procedures

1. Applicants shall complete online application at studyinchina.csc.edu.cn and print out the Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarships. The Scholarships Application Form should be completed in Chinese or English and signed by the applicant.

2. Applicants should submit all of the application materials to the Economic and Commercial Counsellor's Office (ECCO) of Chinese Embassy before the deadline.

ASEAN-China Young Leaders Scholarship (Full Scholarship)

I. Eligibility

1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens from an ASEAN Member State and be in good health.

2. Educational background and age limits (as of September 1):

 (1) Master's programs: hold a bachelor's degree or above and be under the age of 45;

 (2) Doctoral programs: hold a master's degree or above and be under the age of 45.

3. Applicants should be sufficient in English which meets the academic requirements of Xiamen University's English-medium programs, be equivalent to IELTS Academic 6.0 or TOEFL-iBT 80 and above level.

4. Applicants should have at least one-year work experience within government agencies, public or private institutions, universities, think-tanks or similar social agencies, and preferably has experience in China-ASEAN affairs.

II. Application Procedures

1. Applicants shall complete online application at studyinchina.csc.edu.cn and print out the Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarships. The Scholarships Application Form should be completed in Chinese or English and signed by the applicant.

2. Applicants should submit all of the application materials to the ACYLS national focal points before the deadline.

Chinese Government Scholarships-Chinese University Program (Full Scholarship)

I. Eligibility

1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens in good health.

2. Educational background and age limits (as of September 1):

 (1) Master's programs: hold a bachelor's degree or above and be under the age of 35;

 (2) Doctoral programs: hold a master's degree or above and be under the age of 40.

3. Applicants who apply for Master of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (MTCSOL) or programs of foreign language studies are not eligible.

II. Application Procedures

Application for the Scholarships will be considered only after the applicant has been admitted to Xiamen University.

1. Applicants shall complete online application at studyinchina.csc.edu.cn (Program Category: Type B; Agency No. of XMU: 10384) and print out the Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarships. The Scholarships Application Form should be completed in Chinese or English and signed by the applicant.

Marine Scholarship of China (Full Scholarship)

I. Eligibility

1. Applicant must be non-Chinese citizens in good health, from a coastal/island country of South China Sea, the Indian Ocean, the Pacific and its surrounding island countries, or an African, American developing country.

2. Applicant must apply for the postgraduate degree program of ocean-related specialties. Applicants will be given priority if they are currently engaged in oceanographic and relevant sectors.

3. Educational background and age limits (as of September 1):

(1) Master's programs: hold a bachelor's degree or above and be under the age of 40;

(2) Doctoral programs: hold a master's degree or above and be under the age of 45.

II. Application Procedures

Application for the Scholarships will be considered only after the applicant has been admitted to Xiamen University.

Sino-US Cultural Exchange Degree-study Scholarship (Full Scholarship)

I. Eligibility

1. Applicants must be American citizens in good health.

2. Educational background and age limits (as of September 1):

(1) Bachelor's programs: hold a high school diploma or above and be under the age of 25;

(2) Master's programs: hold a bachelor's degree or above and be under the age of 35;

(3) Doctoral programs: hold a master's degree or above and be under the age of 40.

3. Applicants who apply for programs of foreign language studies are not eligible.

Application for the Scholarships will be considered only after the applicant has been admitted to Xiamen University.

Confucius China Study Plan (Full Scholarship)

I. Eligibility

1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens in good health.

2. Language Proficiency Requirements:

(1) Chinese-medium Joint Research Ph.D. Fellowship: HSK 4 Level with 210 scores or above.

(2) Chinese-medium Ph.D. in China Fellowship: HSK 5 Level with 210 scores or above.

(3) English-medium Fellowship: IELTS Academic 6.0 or TOEFL-iBT 80 or above.

(4) Preference will be given, other qualifications being equal, to candidates with high levels of Chinese proficiency.

II. Application Procedures

1. Applicants shall complete online application at ccsp.chinese.cnand upload the required documents. Xiamen University should be chosen as the host university.

2. Applicants should mail all of the application materials to the Confucius Institute Headquarters before the deadline.

Xiamen Tan Kah Kee Scholarships

I. Eligibility

1. Applicants must be ethnic Chinese from countries along the Maritime Silk Road (particularly in Southeast Asia), and possess a valid foreign regular passport.

2. Applicants shall adhere to the One China Principle, be friendly to their mother country, abide by the laws and regulations of the Chinese Government, and be in good health.

3. Educational background and age limits (as of September 1):

(1) Bachelor's programs: hold a high school diploma or above and be under the age of 30;

(2) Master's programs: hold a bachelor's degree or above and be under the age of 35;

(3) Doctoral programs: hold a master's degree or above and be under the age of 40.

Current full-time international degree students at XMU.

II. Scholarships Content:

Prize (first-class) is worth RMB 6,000 for bachelor's program; RMB 8,000 for master's program; RMB 10,000 for doctoral program. Prize (second-class) is worth RMB 4,000 for bachelor's program; RMB 5,000 for master's program; RMB 6,000 for doctoral program.
